Twins of the 80's

Holy shmoley, it's my 200th deviation!

Anyways, the important thing is this is my contest entry for 's 80's Character Contest.

I chose to create two characters: twin sisters named Victoria and Vicky Davies. While they may be identical twins, they went down two completely different paths while growing up in the 80's. Vicky preferred the neon colors, leg-warmers, jewelry and Madonna while Victoria became fascinated with the underground goth culture and wrote poetry while the songs of Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Sisters of Mercy filled her bedroom.

While these two twin sisters may seem very different both personality and appearance wise, they still have a great deal in common: both have an appreciation for fishnets and lace and Vicky has been caught going through Victoria's Depeche Mode tapes on a few occasions.

Looking at the bigger picture, I also wanted to convey the two sides of the decade. Two sides of the same coin, if you will. While there is the (in)famous image of legwarmers and shoulder pads that many of us associate the 80's with, there was also a large underground subculture that was thriving throughout the decade. These clashing opposites came together to create a truly memorable decade.
